Hillary Rodham Clinton is one woman I admire because of various reasons. One of them, was her composure during her turbulent times, when the sex scandal between her husband, then President Bill Clinton, and intern Monica Lewinsky was high on the news, on pages and screens of the world’s media. A citizen, from our part of the world, that is Asia, would have thought that, she being an American, and Americans being fierce advocators of liberation and transparency of their citizens, would soon get annoyed, and irritated with Bill Clinton, not to mention the distrust for his waywardness, and would gradually split off with him. This, in fact, turned out to be an anticlimax. She stuck with him through thick and thin, until today. She had just shown a message to the world; that Americans are not as 'trigger' happy as we thought they would be, and they, too, have understanding and tolerance, as was required by the society of the eastern world.

The Kennedy brothers have left this world, leaving behind a legacy of their own. The first two brothers died under tragic circumstances. The eldest, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated by one, Lee Harvey Oswald, during a motorcade on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas. His younger brother, Senator and President hopeful, Robert F. Kennedy died on June 6, 1968, after being shot by Sirhan Sirhan a Christian-Palestinian American, following a victory speech of the California presidential primary at The Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles, in the early morning of June 5. The youngest, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, ‘The Lion of the Senate’, died on August 25, 2009 in Massachusetts, as a result of a malignant brain tumour.

Holy Cow! The wrong heads roll!
‘Heads will roll’ is a comment that we are very much used to read or hear. One, literally, rolled in front of the Selangor state secretariat on Friday, August 28, 2009. A group of about 50 Muslim protesters marched 300 meters to the Secretariat building with the chopped head of a cow(the animal is sacred for the Hindus) threw it on the road and trampled on it, shouting extremities against the ruling authorities of the Selangor state. They professed to be dissatisfied with the Selangor government for allowing a Hindu temple to be relocated from Section 19 to Section 23 in Shah Alam which they claimed was a Muslim majority area.

Here we are, showing sympathy and pleading for mercy for her, in our blogs and letters to the media, against the sentencing of Kartika, a Muslim woman by the syariah court, to undergo caning for consuming beer and a fine of RM5,000.She had already paid the fine. But there she is, asking the authorities responsible in meting out the punishment, not only to cane her but to do it publicly, so that other Muslim women will refrain from doing the same sin as her! How grossly we had mistaken her 'plight'.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director, Soiman Jahid said this was the first time that the department has to respond to a case such as this. This could be even be a first for Malaysia, where 6 people have perished from inhaling noxious gases in Malaysia.
News of deaths by accidents on the roads, by diseases of the unexpected nature, and deaths in hands of the lawless persons, being the norm, that always gets into the pages of the papers, this, indeed, comes as a shock.
Tragedy could strike from any corner any time. It is our very most task to get ourselves prepared for the calamity, in the way of machines, materials of safety and mental preparation and probability.

Tanjung Karang is a main fishing and paddy growing town in Selangor, Malaysia. It is loosely translated into English as the " Cape of Corals" It is located in the district of Kuala Selangor about 15 kilometers away from the town of Kuala Selangor. The town of Tanjung Karang is divided by Sungai Tengi river at the middle and connected with a bridge. The word Tanjung is also sometimes spelled as Tanjong but still refers to the same place.
