I have known and have heard about a few major races of people having included exotic animals as their food in their diets. I am sure you are also aware. The medias have made me hear of them and sometimes shown them eating deer, pangolins, snakes, and the poor monkeys; from where some say man came from (a great debatable topic, mind you!), horses, the amphibian in the title of this post, the worms, the insect varieties; beetles, bugs, grasshoppers, crickets, etc.....ugh!
I am writing
this post because so far I have not seen those exotic diets being advertised
and openly displayed for the public to see. Not in my country, Malaysia, anyway.
That is why I was taken aback when I noticed a sign board on a shop declaring
openly about frog porridge and chicken rice, the latter delicacy being nothing
unusual. I saw it while I was driving along a street in Sitiawan, a north
eastern town in Malaysia. I made a U-turn to snap a photo of that sign board which
you can see above. I wonder how many sign boards are there displaying openly of
exotic foods in Malaysia right now; snake soup, deeply fried beetles, worms
fried in oily spice….escuse me..I have a nasty feeling in my stomach….!
